Course Overview

This nationally accredited Vacuum Loading training and assessment course has been developed through extensive industry consultation to provide operators with a strong understanding of Vacuum Loading Operations. Operators will undergo training to learn how to operate a vacuum system (Vac truck) safety and have their skills and knowledge accessed to determine they can autonomously operate a vacuum loading system to move products from an open space or vessel into a container. Throughout the training assessment, there will be a strong emphasis placed on the individual to be able to recognise hazards and hazard controls and job management specific to the operation of vacuum loading equipment to successfully manage the various challenges faced in Vacuum Loading Operations.

Course Outcomes

On completion of the course you will be able to autonomously assemble and operate vacuum loading equipment and perform vacuum loading and unloading operations on both solids and liquids, including:

  • Prepare for work
  • Complete on-site preparation
  • Set up vacuum loading job
  • Undertake vacuum loading job
  • Complete vacuum loading job

    Course Duration

    This course is two (2) days.

    Entry Requirements

    All learners must be 16 years or older and will be required to provide photographic identification upon arriving for their course.

    • In South Australia a child of compulsory school age (between 6-16 years of age) cannot be employed during the hours that they are required to attend school or participate in an approved training program.
    • If you are under 16 years of age, you can still apply for Civil Train SA courses, but you will need to talk to your School’s principal to discuss your exemption. The principle will provide you with the appropriate exemption application form and tell you what evidence or documentation is required.

    As part of your course enrolment at Civil Train there is a requirement that you complete a short online quiz. This will assist Civil Train to understand your current levels of language, literacy and numeracy (LLN), to ensure you are at the appropriate level to successfully complete your selected training course. This is a one-time quiz and results will be saved to your learner file and referred to for all future enrolments.

    Please note: Civil Train only carries out assessments in English.  If English is your second language, you may engage a professional (accredited) and independent translator at your cost, for training purposes only.  However, you will be required to undertake the assessment in English without the aid of your translator.

    Delivery & Assessment

    This course is conducted over two days and includes training and assessment. This course is designed for new entrants or people seeking to update their skills and knowledge in Vacuum Loading Operations.

    • Day 1    2-3 hours underpinning knowledge followed by practical training
    • Day 2    Revision, Knowledge assessment, additional practical training and performance assessment

    Assessment

    • Written/verbal assessment
    • Practical assessment

    If you are successful you will receive a Statement of Attainment and plastic card to keep in your wallet to show competency

    Public courses are scheduled frequently in Adelaide.
