Are you required to prepare or use Safe Work Method Statements on site?

Course Overview

Safe Work Method Statements are required under the Work Health and Safety Regulations (2012) (SA). The particular provisions of the Regulations that apply come into effect on 1 January 2014.

The Regulations state (Regulation 299) that a Safe Work Method Statement must be prepared for any high risk construction work.

A Safe Work Method Statement is a statement, in writing, setting out the method of work to be used in a job to ensure that it can be completed safely.

Course Outcomes

On completion of the course you will be able to:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the legal requirements for Safe Work Method Statements
  • Plan and prepare a Safe Work Method Statement
  • Communicate to others the content and purpose of a Safe Work Method Statement

Upon completion you will receive a Statement of Attendance.

    Course Duration

    This course is half day (3.5 hours) in duration.

    Entry Requirements

    All learners must be 16 years or older and will be required to provide photographic identification upon arriving for their course.

    • In South Australia a child of compulsory school age (between 6-16 years of age) cannot be employed during the hours that they are required to attend school or participate in an approved training program.
    • If you are under 16 years of age, you can still apply for Civil Train SA courses, but you will need to talk to your School’s principal to discuss your exemption. The principal will provide you with the appropriate exemption application form and tell you what evidence or documentation is required.

    Please note: Civil Train only carries out training in English.

    This course is delivered and assessed face to face.

    Location

    Public courses are scheduled frequently at Civil Train SA office in Thebarton.
