Course Overview

This course covers the accredited unit for safely operating a range of small plant and equipment which may include; quick cut saw, chainsaw, jackhammer, pressure cleaner, masonry saw, generator, compressor, brush cutter, leg rammer, mower, mulcher, compressor etc.

Small plant and equipment must include power sources and at least three other categories that may include:
• compaction equipment
• concrete equipment
• excavation equipment
• maintenance equipment
• water equipment
• lighting equipment
• lifting and materials handling equipment
• traffic management equipment.

Course Outcomes

  • On completion of the course you will be able to:
  • Plan and prepare for the use of small plant and equipment
  • Conduct pre-operational checks
  • Identify and manage risks and hazards
  • Select, check and adjust fuel, oil, hydraulic fluid and water levels
  • Correct operating techniques to achieve optimum output
  • Operator maintenance
  • Correct storing techniques
  • Clearing work area
  • Upon successful completion, you will be issued with a Statement of Attainment

This course is one (1) day.

Entry Requirements

ALL LEARNERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE PHOTOGRAPHIC IDENTIFICATION UPON ARRIVING FOR THEIR COURSE

Entrants will need a level of language and literacy skills to enable them to meet the requirements of the course.

Civil Train recommends year 10 school completion or equivalent as a guide to the level required for short courses.

Language, Literacy and Numeracy skills required for this course include:
• using a range of communication techniques and equipment to convey information to others
• complying with written and verbal reporting requirements and procedures

Delivery & Assessment

This course is delivered and assessed face to face.
There are theory and practical training and assessment components to the course.

Location

Public courses are scheduled frequently in Perth.
This course can also be delivered regionally – please contact the office for regional locations and dates.
