Who We Are

Civil Train is the training arm of the Civil Contractors Federation, registered in each Australian State and recognised as the industry accepted preferred training provider.
Civil Train is a not for profit Registered Training Organisation that was officially opened as the Civil Construction Skills & Technology Centre by the Federal Minister for Small Business and Construction, the Hon Chris Schacht, in September 1994.
It is governed by a Management Committee drawn from industry members and relevant Government agencies.


What We Do

We are the largest provider of civil construction training in South Australia and also a significant provider of training for the extractive, horticulture and aboriculture industries.

Nationally Recongnised Quality Standards 

Civil Train has a quality management system focused on delivering training services to the standard of the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF). We are a Recognised Training Organisation (RTO) in accordance with the requirements of the AQTF.

We deliver training and assessment in nationally accredited qualifications recognised throughout Australia.

Occupational Health And Safety

Civil Train recognises its responsibility to provide a safe training environment and also to deliver training that will provide participants with appropriate knowledge and skills in occupational health and safety.

Equity And Diversity

We make a point of delivering services in a manner that is equitable and fair to all our clients. We also specialise in training people from a diverse range of backgrounds who work or wish to work in the civil construction, mining and horticulture industries.

Recent Clients And Projects

  • Cast Metals Precinct (CMP) Site, Dry Creek
    A "live works" project in partnership with the State Government involving the rehabilitation of land for the later construction of foundry operations. The site provides a practical training environment for plant operations. Training programs include a 12 week Plant Induction Training Course for participants keen to enter the civil construction industry.  
  • Lewiston Subdivision
    Working in partnership with DML Constructions Pty Ltd on the four stages of a sub-division at Lewiston, trainers worked with a variety of entry level and experienced participants on-site providing them with training in a practical "live works" setting.
  • Mission Australia in Port Augusta
    We have partnered with Mission Australia in Port Augusta to deliver plant and induction training to both indigenous and non-indigenous participants to enable them to gain employment within the mining industry.
  • Local Government Operational Works
    In the past few years, we have delivered training for operational staff for over 60 metropolitan and regional local authorities in South Australia and New South Wales. In addition to plant operator training and other short courses, trainees are enrolled in the Certificate III in Civil Construction (Plant); Certificate III in Civil Construction (Road Construction and Maintenance); Certificate III in Horticulture (General) and Certificate III in Horticulture (Arboriculture).
  • Certificate IV Qualifications
    We run a popular Certificate IV qualification program. This program incorporates Certificate IV in Local Government (Operational Works); Certificate IV in Horticulture and Certificate IV in Horticulture (Arboriculture). These courses are aimed at supervisors. Industry specialists have been engaged to provide participants with industry focussed knowledge and skills.
  • Goreta Aboriginal Community, Point Pearce
    We worked with the community to organise and deliver a three week New Apprenticeship Access Program. All sixteen entrants success fully completed the landscape construction and horticulture skills program. The program was delivered in the community and involved work on a community project.
